2009英国高等教育博览会 - 新通预科学院

为了本次与NCUK大学代表的大型咨询与面试活动，英国国际预科班的同学们做了精心的准备。他们查阅了大量院校资料，结合自身情况准备了很多有针对性的问题。另外，英国班还派出了10位学生，在公众咨询阶段为大学代表和来访者提供翻译。学生们流利的英语，丰富的专业知识和认真的态度得到了大学代表的普遍赞扬，也受到了来访者的好评。

Last Saturday, representatives from NCUK came to Hangzhou. Each of us has a chance to talk to them. The mission began with a lecture given by the representative of the University of Leeds. She talked about how to choose the right course, university and city in general. Since we will spend 3 years studying in the same city, we should choose it seriously.

After that, we had “face to face” talk with the representatives freely. Not only we can gather information from them directly, but with our predicated grades, they can also acquaint us better. All of them were very friendly and did their best to answer questions. It was easy to establish good relationship with them and we can also ask questions after the mission by sending e-mails!

The mission is a vital process in deciding which university we should enter. I have lots of questions. I could not decide which course to study, law or law with business, for instance. And all the representatives answered with a same answer: single law degree. As I want to be a barrister in the future, a LLB degree will be much more helpful compare to the BA degree. Besides that, I also got some surprise. I was told that University of Sheffield would offer international students reward who studied law undergraduate with every subject greater than 60%. The reward is half reduction of the tuition. I am interested in it and therefore put Sheffield as my second choice.

In the afternoon, I worked as an interpreter for the University of Bristol. One boy who was in Grade 2 in high school wanted to study in the University of Bristol. After talking with the representative, he understood how to prepare and apply for the university. As he wanted to study engineering, which is available in U of Bristol, he got some really useful information.

Over all, it is obvious that universities in the

welcome students to study there. In that case, students must choose the right course and university based on their own interests and capability. And plenty of research is a must.

3月21日对我而言是一个特殊的日子，这天我不仅要见到盼望已久的英国大学代表，还要在下午的社会咨询时间担当大学代表的翻译。这天一大早，我换上崭新的套装，既紧张又期待地到达了会场，哇！不由自主地惊叹了一声。女生们几乎统一的衬衫外套配西裤或套裙，男生们则是清一色的西装领带加皮鞋，真是让人大开眼界。

9点一到，大家都被安排在会场中心就坐，颇有白领开业务研讨会的架势。Leeds大学金发碧眼的美女代表做了lecture，主要是向我们介绍如何选择适合自己的专业和大学，如何去适应自己的异国求学生活等等。9:30，咨询会正式开始。我的第一所面试学校是最负盛名的大学之一——University of Bristol。走进面试房间，我在心里给自己打气：一定要表现得非常自信。微笑、Say Hello、落座。首先，大学代表们核对了我们这一组面试学生的名字以及所申请的专业等基本信息。然后，就是针对我们各自提出的各种问题，进行一一解答。原本以为会很漫长的二十分钟，却在我们轻松的对话中不知不觉地过去了，在走出面试房间时，我们皆是一脸的轻松自若，Wow，感觉还不错，我们相视而笑。《留学世界》的记者对我们进行了采访，面试时的从容自信这时也依然存在，我们对记者的问题对答如流，轻松表现。第一场面试中，大学代表们的友好亲切缓解了我们紧张的情绪，也营造了轻松自然的氛围。在这个基础上，在面对接下来的四所大学——Liverpool、Leeds、Sheffield and Manchester时，我们的表现也是可圈可点的完美。一眨眼，一个上午的面试时间已经过去，虽然有点累，不过感觉却是超好的！

吃了简单的午餐，下午就是我为大学代表们做翻译的时间了。我被选定为著名的Sheffield做翻译。咨询进行地相当顺利，并没有我原先担心的那种手忙脚乱的现象出现，我还有很多时间与大学代表们进行轻松愉快的聊天，增进了我对Sheffield大学的了解。下午的时间也过去了，与大学代表们互道“Thank you!”后，我一天的任务就算圆满落幕了，感觉真的是如释重负，但也充实无比。长长的呼出一口气，看着同行的另外九名同学脸上都流露出欣慰的笑容，我的心情分外的High,真想与大家一起向着天空大喊一声“YES!”

Louise Evans小姐，英国利兹大学校方代表，在活动结束后接受了我们学院的采访，在此谈了她对本次活动的感想：

This is my first year on NCUK mission and I find it very exciting to talk to all these promising students. They are active, well-prepared and goal-oriented, and their English are also good. I can tell from their questions that they have really taken the mission seriously. You know, it is very important to leave good impression because many of the representatives will be in charge of admission later on. I believe that your students have impressed us and they will be active members of the universities they study in.

I gave a short speech about how to choose the right course to the students, and I am very happy to see that many of the students are interested in our university – the University of Leeds. I am a Leeds graduate and I am sure that the University of Leeds is an exciting place. You can not only receive high-quality education there, but also gain unforgettable experience from our student clubs, international office, accommodations, as well as the vibrant city of Leeds.

Also, I aware that this is the first year for Hangzhou Centre to organize NCUK mission. Organizing such an event is really a huge task. Hangzhou Centre has done a good job, the mission is well organized, the schedule is reasonable, and all students are fully prepared. Your staff must have paid great effort on this.
